Suneel Darshan Biography

Suneel Darshan is a producer and director of Bollywood who has given movies like – Lootere, Janwar, Ajay and Andaz.  He has also written the scripts of a few movies. As a producer, his biggest hits were Lootere, Talaash: The Hunt Begins and Ajay. He is the brother of director Dharmesh Darshan who has directed movies like Dhadkan and raja Hindustani. He has financed his brother’s first film as well – Lootere, that was success at box office. As a producer, Intequaam was his first movie followed by Lootere and Sunny Deol was the leading hero in both these movies.

Suneel Darshan has worked with Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor in major of his films. He paired them together for the first time in the movie – Jaanwar which was moderate success at box office. Before that, Karishma Kapoor was the first heroine of his debut movie as a director – Ajay and it was well received by the public too. It was soon after the release of Raja Hindustani of his brother that gave stardom to this actress of Kapoor family. Nadeem Shravan’s romantic music has always played a significant role in his movies as well. The movies acted by Karishma Kapoor and Akshay Kumar together include – Janwar, Ek rishta, Andaaz, Mere jeevan saathi and Haan meine bhi pyar kiya. Perhaps it was Suneel who has maximum of their movies as pairs. Janwar, Ek rishta and Andaaz received moderate response from audience while the rest terribly failed. Mere jeevan saathi was a lagged project released after the marriage of Karishma Kapoor and it was one of her last movies before she returned back with Dangerous Ishq.  

Apart from Janwar, Ek rishta, Andaaz, Mere jeevan saathi and Haan meine bhi pyar kiya, Akshay Kumar has worked with Suneel Darshan’s 2003 movie – Talaash: The hunt begins as well. In this movie, Akshay Kumar was paired Karishma’s younger sister – Kareena and the movie was well received too. He worked with Bobby Deol in the movie Barsaat, and the film title was coined from the debut movie of Deol released in the year 1995. As a director/producer/writer, his other movies are Dosti: Friends forever and Shakalaka boom.
