Sunanda Murali Manohar Biography

Sunanda Murali Manohar is a film producer from England, born and brought up in India. She has produced both Tamil and English movies. Among her financed movies, the most noted Tamil projects are – Jeans, Jodi, Minnale, Majnu, Judgement, Thambi, Dhaam Dhoom, Mirattal etc. Indian summer (1986),Blood stone 1988 and Provoked (starring Aishwarya Rai) are her English projects while she has also done one Hindi film starring Madhavan - Ramji London wale, a remake of Tamil hit Nala Damayanthi. She is associated with a film family, where her father was a film distributor and theatre owner of Sangam theatre.

 

She is a south Indian, born to R.N. Manddre who was associated with films as a distributor. He was a popular distributor for Hindi films in Karnataka since late 1990s. From Aradhana to Khal nayak, he has distributed several blockbuster hits. Her father is credited to build the first ac film theater in Bangalore and Mysore. Sunanda too stepped into her father’s shoes and continued with film distribution, even after her marriage with Dr J Murali Manohar. She did film distribution in Chennai and moved to the Media Business in 1985. She distributed many hit Bollywood films of late 1990s across Kerala and Tamil Nadu, with an office set up in Chennai. Pardes, Taal and Sarfarosh are some of her movies.

 

Slowly she developed an interest to invest money into production ventures and that’s how she entered film production. She produced both Tamil and English projects and worked in London. Rajinikanth starrer Kochadaiyaan is one of her latest projects which is described as the India's first Photo-realistic Motion Capture film.
