Sujata Keshavan Biography

Sujata Keshavan is an Indian graphic designer, and a co-founder of Ray and Keshavan (since 1989), a brand design firm based in India. Her husband Ramachandra Guha is a Sahitya academy winner, writer, columnist and historian. As a designer, she has been involved with many leading Indian companies of corporate sector, and was also involved in designing the logo of Infosys and Ashoka University. She has served as a jury member for many business and design awards. She holds a Master of Fine Arts in graphic design degree from the School of Art, Yale University. She is currently settled in Bangalore with her husband and two children.

 

Sujata Keshavan was born in 1961. She graduated from the National Institute of Design in 1984, and for advanced studies she moved to Yale, where she took master’s degree. While at Yale, she got opportunity to learn under some of the acclaimed designers of the world like Paul Rand, Bradbury Thompson and Armin Hofmann. After she moved back to India in late 1980s, she co-founded Ray and Keshavan, specially aimed for creating corporate image-building, branding etc. Since then she has been involved with many leading firms of the country in the past three decades.

 

Through her company she creates strategic designs, to give better impression about the company to the customers, and projecting the company in every better way. She is the only Indian graphic designer to be honoured twice as the Graphic Designer of the Year at the annual Advertising and Marketing awards. In 2006, she was named among India's 30 most powerful women by India Today magazine. She found her place at 18th position at Fortune India's list for the most powerful women in business in the year 2011.
