Sugandha Mishra Biography

Sugandha Mishra is a television host and singer who shot to fame after reaching the finals of Hero Honda - Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Singing Superstar. She was the third runner-up of the show. She is a mimicry artist too, winning 7 years in a row in national level youth competitions. She also participated in The Great Indian Laughter Challenge. She became popular through Indian Comedy Show on Star Plus too. She is the granddaughter of Pt. Shankar Lal Mishra, disciple of Ustaad Amir Khan. Her uncle, Dr Arun Mishra, is a known sitarist. Apart from Hindustani music, she is also associated with jingles, bhajans and a few film songs as a playback singer.

 

Sugandha Mishra was born in a musical family with 4 generations of musical legends. She forayed into music at the age of three. She learnt Hindustani Classic music from her grandfather, legendary Pt. Shankar Lal Mishra who taught her Indore gharana of music. Sugandha is excellent in academics too and is a university topper and a gold medalist. She is a mimicry artist too and has won National Level youth festivals for 7 consecutive years in music and mimicry category. She holds a Master’s in music and currently pursuing Doctorate in Music.

 

She started her music journey as a Radio Jockey in BIG FM 92.7 where she hosted one of the popular morning shows. Through the reality shows on Indian television, she became popular – for her singing talent and comic timings. She has done playback singing for Bollywood movies like Kamaal Dhamaal Malamaal and Shree and has also hosted a few television shows. She also got opportunity to perform at the 90th birthday celebration of legendary Indian actor, Dilip Kumar.
