Sudhamoy Pramanick Biography 
Sudhamoy Pramanick was an advocate, social activist and freedom fighter from Bengal. His son Diptendu Pramanick was a noted film celebrity from Bengal. He was one of the fortunate Presidencians - a year senior to Rajendra Prasad. He was a member of the Indian National Congress and involved with the Satyagraha movement, as a part of Indian freedom struggle movement. He was the lifetime secretary of the Tili Samaj, a social organization.
Sudhamoy Pramanick was born in a family of 10 siblings. He was born the elder kid to a Pramanik family in 1884 in Shantipur. His schooling was done at his hometown itself and later he moved to Kolkata for higher education. His graduation was done at Presidency College, Kolkata during early 1900s. He completed Bachelor of Law from University of Calcutta and started practising in Raiganj and Sealdah courts as an advocate. He was well verse in Sanskrit and was inclined towards literature as well. He has done a few translation works during this time. He translated a few books and edited a few papers of Sanskrit. As a secretary of the Tili Samaj magazine, he wrote against social evils like dowry.
Nationalized thoughts soon seeded in his mind and joined Indian national congress. He was a senior leader during his tenure at Raigunj Court during this time. In 1930, Raigunj celebrated Purna Swaraj on 26 January against the British Raj. He and Umeshchandra Bhowmik were the Congress leaders enacting the historic Lahore resolution of the CWC. He presided over public meetings in Raigunj as a part of the Civil Disobedience Movement in violation of the Salt Laws in 1931. Later he moved to Kolkata and continued his career as an advocate.
