Sudha Rani Biography

Sudha Rani is a noted actress of Kannada cinema. She has also acted in the other south Indian languages. Anand (1986), Panchama Veda (1989), Mysooru Mallige (1992), Mannina Doni (1992), Anuraga Sangama (1995) and Sparsha (2000) are her noted Kannada movies. She was paired opposite Jayaram in her single Malayalam classic and super hit movie, Aadyathe Kanmani in 1995. Sudha entered film industry as a child artist and debut as heroine with the movie Anand in 1986. In 1989, for the movie Panchama Veda she received her first state award for best actress (Kannada). She won the same award for the next time in the year 1991 for the movie, Mysooru Mallige. Same role gave her maiden Filmfare best actress award also. In 2001, she won her second Filmfare best actress award for the movie, Sparsha.

Rani was born into a family based in Malleswaram. At the age of 3, she appeared as a model in print ads. From the age of 5, she was trained with classical dance. Sudha is an accomplished Kuchipudi and Bharata Natyam dancer. She began her acting career as a child artist in the 1978 film Kiladi Kittu, followed by Ranganayaki in 1981.She debut as an adult actress with the movie, Anand opposite Rajkumar, who noticed her in a thread ceremony video at the age of 12. She later appeared in noted movies like Mana Mechida Hudugi, Anna Tangi, Samara, Aasegobba Meesegobba and Midida Shruti.

Sudha remained as one of the top actresses of 1990’s. Among all her heroes, her pairing with Ramesh Aravind was noted most. Together they appeared in a series of movies like Panchama Veda, Shrigandha, Aragini, and Anuraga Sangama. Now she appears in character roles in south Indian movies and her latest appearance include – Dandupalya, Bharath Stores and Guru.
