Sudha Belawadi Biography

Sudha Belawadi is an actress associated with Kannada cinema and theatre. She is the daughter of Belavadi Nanjundaiah Narayana, best known as Makeup Nani in Karnataka film industry was an actor and makeup artist, and also veteran film and theater artist, Bhargavi Narayan. Her brother Prakash Belawadi is a national award winning filmmaker, a successful theater and media personality. Her daughter Samyukta Hornad is also a Kannada film actress. Sudha is best known for her works in Kannada movies - Mathadana (2001), Mungaru Male (2006), Moggina Manasu (2008), Kaadu (1973) etc. she mostly plays supporting roles on big and small screen, apart from plays.

 

She was born into a family of artists in Bangalore, Karnataka. Her father Makeup Nani and mother Bhargavi Narayan are veterans associated with Kannada cinema since late 1960s. She has three siblings of whom Prakash is a film and theater personality. Following her parents’ footsteps, she too reached the cine world, and now the third generation has also joined recently. She is married to M. G. Sathya Rao, and the couple has one daughter and one son, and their daughter has joined films.

 

Sudha has appeared in more than 70 Kannada films, apart from numerous theater works. She has also worked in TV soap dramas such as Manthana, Manvanthara and Mahaparva. Currently she is busy with her TV shows. She was initially active in theatre, but couldn’t pursue it as she worked in an ad agency. She also worked as a publicity manager for a firm during her younger days. It was a time when television soap era has just begun, and her mother and brother were doing serials. She too followed the same suit.
