Subrata Pal Biography

Subrata Pal is an Indian professional footballer of India national team, and he also plays for Indian Super League - professional football league in India. He plays for Jamshedpur in ISL. He has played for DSK Shivajians in the previous two seasons. Since 2004 he has played for some of the leading clubs of the country, and completed his training from Tata Football Academy in 2004. In 2014, he became the first Indian footballer to join the 1st division European football club when he nailed the trial with the Dannish side FC. He has been playing in national team for more than 11 years since 2007. He owns 2011 AFC Asian cup to his credentials.

 

Subrata Pal was born on 24 November 1986 in Sodepur, West Bengal. He is nicknamed the ‘Spiderman’ for his athleticism. He started showing early signs of his prominence since his days with Tata Football Academy during 2002-2004. He later joined the Kolkata side Mohan Bagan FC to kickstart his football career. He spent close to 4 years with this leading football club of Bengal. But an unhappy incident also occurred during his tenure with Mohan Bagan. He and the Dempo FC striker Cristiano Junior collided on the pitch and Cristiano lost his life. Subrata got suspended for a considerable period.

 

He was then sold to the local derby side East Bengal FC. But he impressed the coaches and selectors, and also marked his debut in National team under Manager Bob Houghton. Subrata became the first Indian footballer to join the 1st division European football club in 2014, and rose to new heights after being a team member of DSK Shivajians and Jamshedpur.
