Subrahmaniam Nagarajan Biography 
Subrahmaniam Nagarajan is an Indian wheat pathologist and Biologist from Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He was a recipient of the prestigious Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Award instituted in 1956 by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) to recognize Indian researchers in the agricultural field, and he received the honour during 1978–1979. He is the Project Director of the All India Wheat program. He has regularly published his research works mostly related to wheat pathology, and till now has published 120 research papers, 50 book chapters and two books.
Subrahmaniam Nagarajan was born on 7 November 1945 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He completed his schooling from Chennai, and then moved to Coimbatore for agricultural studies. Then he pursued his master’s in Agriculture at the Indian Agriculture Research Institute, New Delhi and received his doctorate in Agriculture from the Delhi University. Over the years he earned reputation as an internationally acknowledged wheat pathologist, who published numerous research papers related to this subject. He became the Director of Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi in 2002.
He joined Indian Council of Agricultural Research in 1974 as wheat pathologist. In the past few years, his research works mostly concentrated on rust epidemics which destroy wheat crops, and his findings have helped in a major way to block rust epidemics and reduce crop loss. He received Dr. Norman Borlaug Award of the Coromandel Fertilizers in 2004–2005, Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Award of the ICAR, Om Prakash Bashin Award and many more honours. He remained a fellow at National Academy of Agricultural Sciences in 1992, National Academy of Sciences, Allahabad in 2002 and Alexander von Humboldt Foundation Germany in 1978.
