Subhasish Mukherjee Biography

Subhasish Mukherjee is a Bengali film actor who plays both lead and supporting roles. He has also appeared in Telugu TV shows. He made his debut in 1987 through Purnendu Patri's film "Choto Bakulpurer Jatri", and this veteran has completed three decades in film industry. Among numerous roles he played on screen over the years, his role in Herbert (2005) is most memorable. The movie was directed by veteran theater director Suman Mukhopadhyay, and based on Nabarun Bhattacharya's 1997 Sahitya Akademi Award winning novel of the same name. Subhasish Mukherjee played the lead role in the film which bagged National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Bengali. His lead role in 2011 Bengali fictional movie Tenida was also appreciated.

Subhasish Mukherjee, also written as Subhasish Mukhopadhyay is of Kolkata origin. Purnendu Patri's "Choto Bakulpurer Jatri" marked his screen debut in 1987. Since then he has played numerous roles on screen, and over the years he grew more prominent, playing meaty roles. Teen Kanya, Meghe Dhaka Tara etc are some of his famous roles. He also appears in TV shows. Byomkesh, Taranath Tantrik, Detective 2015, Koler Bou etc are some of them. He is popular with his comic roles on screen. He has also portrayed serious roles. He played the serious role of a novelist in ‘Chabiwala’.

He is fully active in Bengali cinema right now, and plays both lead and supporting roles. Paran Bandhu Re, Professor Shonku O El Dorado and Mahalaya are his most recent releases in 2019. Signature, Sultan: The Saviour, Mrs. Sen, Arshinagar and Signature are some of his works in the recent past. He played lead role in Mahalaya, released in 2019.
