Subhamita Banerjee Biography 
Subhamita Banerjee is a Bengali singer associated with Modern Bengali Songs and Ghazals. She is also a playback singer and owns many Bengali albums to her credit. Most of her recordings have been released by Sagarika Music. She was placed First in HMV Golden Talent Contest in 1993. A winner of several scholarships and competitions, she owns many hit film songs to her credit as well. She won Best Female Singer Award in Tele-Serial Category in 2006, 2007 & 2008, thus completing a hat-trick. She has done playback singing for more than 200 films and television serials exclusively. She was a winner of the reality show, Sa Theke Sa, through which she came to limelight for the first time.
Subhamita Banerjee hails from Malda, West Bengal. She was initiated to the world of classical music by none other than her father, Joshoda Dulal Das, a classical vocalist. She continued advanced training in music under Ulhas Kashalkar of Jaipur Gwalior Gharana, Aniruddha Bhattacharya of Kirana Gharana and Vidushi Purnima Chowdhury of Benares Gharana, apart from learning Purab Ang Thumri, Dadra, Chaiti and Kajri under different gurus. She completed her graduation and post-graduation in English, and later turned a full time professional associated with singing.
During her school and college days she was a recipient of various scholarships including Scholarship from ITC Sangeet Research Academy, Kolkata and National Scholarship from the Government of India in 1992. The following year she won HMV Golden Talent Contest, followed by reality show Sa Theke Sa which aired on ETV Bangla which gave her a major break to her singing career. Apart from releasing songs, she has performed at different cultural events of West Bengal over the years.
