Subhalekha Sudhakar Biography

Subhalekha Sudhakar is a noted character artist associated with south Indian film and television industry. He predominantly works in Telugu cinema and Tamil television. He is married to popular playback singer of south Indian cinema, S. P. Shailaja, sister of renowned singer S.P. Balasubrahmanyam. Over the years Sudhakar has donned various types of character roles – from comic roles to serious ones. His popular roles in the Tamil Television shows - Chithi, Kolangal and Thendral make him an extremely popular actor. He won him the Best Actor award for his role as Muthumankicam in Thendral. He is also a recipient of Nandi award for best acting in Telugu movie. He has acted in more than 100 Telugu films, apart from a few Tamil movies.

He was born on 19 November 1960 in Vishakhapatnam. His real name is Suravajula Sudhakar. He came to Chennai for the first time in 1980 to study in the Adyar film institute. In those days shooting for almost all south Indian films took place in Chennai, and he was in search for a film break. Telugu film Subhalekha marked his acting debut and the role was given by director K. Viswanath. Since then he came to be known by the name Subhalekha Sudhakar. Thunai, directed by Durai marked his Tamil debut. He has stayed in the entertainment industry for more than three decades since then.

Luck played a major role in his life and he received numerous offers from Telugu movies, apart from a few in Tamil. He mostly played supporting and comic roles. Sitaara, Aa Naluguru, Modati Cinema, Rendu Jella Sitha, Shrimathi Kaavaali, Nesam, Prema Zindabad, Dongaata, Thunai, Chinnabbayi, Bezawada, Dammu, Genius, Priyathama Neevachata Kushalama, Swathi, Aditya 369 etc are some of his best film roles. He married playback singer S. P. Shailaja in 1987 and the couple has one son. For the last few years he is quite active with television.
