Sruthi Hariharan Biography

Sruthi Hariharan is a south Indian film actress who made her debut through Malayalam movie – Cinema Company and got noticed for her role as a singer. She gained popularity through the Kannada film Lucia for which she was nominated for SIIMA Awards for Best Female Debutant. Nerungi Vaa Muthamidathe marked her Tamil debut. Ra Ra Rajasekhar is her upcoming Tamil thriller, where she plays the lead role. Godhi Banna Sadharana Mykattu and Sipaayi are her upcoming Kannada movies. After her debut movie she has never worked in Malayalam.

Sruthi Hariharan was born into a Tamil Brahmin family in Palakkad. But she was brought up in Bangalore where she completed her education. She holds BBM degree from Christ University and is a trained dancer of Bharatanatyam and contemporary dance. She is fluent in all south Indian languages and Hindi. She has been associated with cultural activities since her college days and wanted to take up dance as her profession, which her family opposed. She later joined choreographer Imraan Sardariya's dance troupe and worked as a background dancer and an assistant choreographer. She worked as a background dancer for three years and acting was not at all in her dreams.

But later she wanted to face camera and appeared in several documentaries and short films. Though she got a film offer from Tamil, the movie got shelved. Later she attended the auditions for Malayalam film Cinema Company and eventually got selected to play the ambitious girl – Parvathy. The movie told the story of four close friends who dream of making a film. The movie was written and directed by newcomer Mamas and she worked aside a group of newcomers. She got the lead role in the Kannada film Lucia, where she played two characters and gained popularity quickly.
