Sriya Reddy Biography

Sriya Reddy is a noted south Indian actress, anchor and video jockey of SS music who gave outstanding performance in Priyadarshan’s National award winning Tamil movie, Kanchivaram. She played lead role opposite Prakash Raj in this critically acclaimed movie, which earned her nominations at Vijay Film award (supporting actress) and Filmfare awards (Best Tamil actress). She turned a film producer with the movie, Thoranai in 2009. She has produced one more movie, Vedi in 2011. She has acted in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam movies. Her father Bharath Reddy is a former Test cricketer and wicket keeper. She is married to film actor, Vikram Krishna. The veteran film producer G. K. Reddy is her father-in-law and actor, Vishal Krishna is her brother-in-law.

She was born and brought up in Chennai, where she completed her education. She has received good comments from Indian cricketers for her good voice since childhood. Though she received modeling offers while at school, she declined all as it was her father’s ambition to complete education before entering entertainment industry. But when she got an offer as VJ for SS Music she convinced her father on promise that she will never drop studies. Thus her career started with SS Music where she earned fame as VJ Sriya. She won VJ hunt by SS Music and hosted shows like Connect and Phonetastic.

Though Telugu film, Appudappudu (2003) was her first signed movie, Tamil movie Samurai (2002) was the first released one, in which she played a bit role. In the following year, she debut Malayalam film industry with ‘Black’ opposite Mammootty. The movie was a commercial success. In 2005, she tasted success of her second Malayalam movie, Bharathchandran I.P.S. where she got opportunity to work with another super star of the industry, Suresh Gopi. Oraal in 2006 was her third Malayalam release.

Her noted Tamil releases include – Thimiru, Veyil and Pallikkoodam in which she played second lead. Through Kanchivaram, she turned a lead actress. But soon after Kanchivaram, she got married and get settled with family life. She produced a couple of movies later.
