Sripriya Biography

Sripriya is a former south Indian actress who has been most active during 1970’s and 1980’s. Though she worked in all south Indian languages, she worked predominantly in Tamil movies. She has starred in over 200 Tamil movies alone and about 100 movies in other languages. 1973 Tamil movie, Murugan Kaattiya Vazhi directed by P. Madhavan marked her onscreen debut. She is married to actor Rajkumar Sethupathy.

She is most noticed for her pairing with the top two stars of Tamil cinema, Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan. She was Rajinikanth's leading lady in most of his early movies during 1980’s and they together worked in 28 movies. She reprised the role of Parveen Babi in the Hindi version of Don, titled Billa, the title role played by Rajinikanth. She has also done maximum movies with Kamal Hassan, only next to Sridevi. She acted aside Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth in the Malayalam movie - Allauddinum Albhutha Vilakkum. Illamai Ungaladukirathu, Aval Appadithen, Aadu Puli Aatam, Alladinum Arputha Vilakkakum and Natchathiram are her noted movies as a lead actress.

Sripriya was born and brought up in Chennai. She belonged to a professional music family and she herself is a trained classical dancer. She is married to actor Rajkumar Sethupathy, known for playing supporting roles in Malayalam and Tamil movies. The couple has 2 children. She made her big screen debut in the year 1973. Murugan Kaatiya Vazhi was her debut movie, followed by Aval Oru Thodar Kathai. Later she also appeared in Malayalam movies like BhaaryaIllaathaRaathri, Parivarthanam and Aayiram Janmangal. Anthuleni Katha, Chilakamma Cheppindi and Aame Katha are her early Telugu movies.

Now she is associated with small screen as a director and actress. Kannamoochi Yenada was her latest movie. She has directed 5 serials till now.
