Srinath Biography

Srinath is a Kannada film actor and the vice-president of Kannada TV Channel Udaya TV. He has successfully anchored Kannada Game Show, Adarsha Dampatigalu. His real name is Narayana Swamy and nickname, Pranaya Raja, as he got success as a romantic hero onscreen. Srinath was introduced to Kannada film industry by renowned director Puttanna Kanagal.

 

Narayana Swamy was a part of amateur dramas before entering cinema field. He also practised cinematography in Occupational Institute in Bangalore. His first appearance onscreen was a bit role in Kannada movie, Lagna Pathrike. Next he got lead role in the movie, Madhura Milana directed by S K A Chari. With the movie release, he changed his lengthy name to Srinath. In 1975, the classic movie, Shubamangala was released. The movie is considered to be pertinent to any generation, even during 2010’s. His next movie was Anireekshita directed by Nagesh Baba which established him as a popular actor. After that Srinath didn’t look back and established as a popular romantic Kannada actor.

 

Srinath has acted in more than 200 movies in his acting career. His major films include Besuge, Manasa Sarovara and Shubha Mangala. Besuga gave him Filmfare best actor award in the year 1980. He got Karnataka State Award for Best Actor for the film Sri Raghavendra Vaibhava. Among all actresses, his pairing with Manjula has been noticed most and together they have appeared in 35 films. Thus Srinath-Manjula pair is regarded as one of the greatest Kannada onscreen pairs. Srinath has also been active in politics under Bharathiya Janatha Party. He has served as the member of legislative council from the artiste fraternity for a period of six years. Now he is associated with television also, as an actor as well as television host.
