Srimathumitha Biography 
Srimathumitha is an Indian playback singer who predominantly works in Tamil. She is a trained Carnatic singer too. She was the winner of the singing talent hunt show, “Best Voice of 2002” aired on RAJ TV, which helped her to gain initial recognition and big break to playback singing. Her voice was featured in two of the songs of Rahman’s academy winner, Slumdog Millionaire. “Rathathin Rathame” from Velayudham, “Azhage Azhage” from Oru Kal Oru Kannadi, “Valayapatti Thavile” from Azhagiya Tamil Magan and “Kanaa Kaanum Kalangal” from 7G Rainbow Colony are among her most popular songs.
She hails from Chennai. Her mother is a Veena exponent, and her father retired as chief engineer from Merchant Navy. Her sister Charulatha Mani is alsoa well known playback singer and Carnatic singer. She was initiated to the world of singing by her mother at the age of 4. Later she took formal training in Carnatic music from Gayatri Shankaran. She has also trained under Savithri Satyamurthy and currently doing advanced training under Seetharama Sharma. Apart from singing, she has also studied violin and piano up to 3rd grade. She is married to Ashwin Viswanathan, a software engineer from Chennai.
She released her first solo music album at the age of 14. It was her dedication to M. S. Subbulakshmi. She is also regular in music concerts since then. She was introduced to playback singing in 2003 by Harris Jayaraj. It happened after she won “Best Voice of 2002” reality show. Her debut song “Mudhal Mudhalai” in the movie Lesa Lesa was an instant chartbuster. In between she also sang a couple of songs composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja. Since then she is regular in playback singing also. She is the first recipient of Vikadan Awards started in 2004. Kannai Vittu of Iru Mugan and Poi Vaada of Dharma Durai are her recent songs.
