Soundararajan Biography

Soundararajan is an Indian cinematographer who works in south Indian film industry. He started off his professional career through Tamil action thriller, Sukran (2005) and later accepted projects from Malayalam and Telugu film industries as well. Bogan in 2017 is one among his noted works in the recent past, and he predominantly works in Tamil cinema. Tamil-Malayalam bilingual Samsaaram Aarogyathinu Haanikaram/ Vaayai Moodi Pesavum, Kana Kandaen, Aadi, Anaganaga O Dheerudu, Maattrraan, Billa (2009) (Telugu film), Bengal Tiger, Romeo Juliet etc are other noted works belonging to different languages.

The cameraman Soundararajan was born in Uthiramerur, Tamil Nadu on August 29, 1976. His birth place belongs to Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu. He was brought up in Kancheepuram and he completed his graduation in Chennai. He got married to Anusha in 2005 and has two children. After graduating in Visual Communications at Loyola College, Chennai he approached renowned cinematographer P. C. Sreeram to work as his assistant. Sreeram recommended him to cinematographer K. V. Anand and Anand accepted him as assistant in the mid-1990s.

Since second half of 1990s, he worked as an assistant under Anand for movies belonging to different languages. From Nerukku Ner (1997) to Mudhalvan (1999), Josh (2000) and Khakhee (2004), he worked in a series of movies till 2004 before he received his first project as an independent cinematographer. His debut flick, Sukran (2005) fared only average at box office and received negative reviews only. Kana Kandaen (2005), directed by his mentor K. V. Anand was his second flick, which gave him a major breakthrough in the industry. The film’s success helped him to bag offers from different south Indian language films. He also won critical acclaim for his work in the bilingual Vaayai Moodi Pesavum and also Bogan.
