Soundararaja Biography

Soundararaja is a popular actor of Tamil cinema, who produces short films too. He has played negative shades onscreen with full perfection - Sundarapandian (2012), Varuthapadatha Valiber Sangam (2013), Jigarthanda (2014) being the best instances, which earned him critical acclaim too. Now Soundararaja is a popular actor of Tamil cinema. He is an engineer turned actor.

Soundararaja was born in 1983 in Usilampatti, Madurai District. After his studies in Madurai he moved to Chennai. He did odd jobs while at Chennai to earn pocket money. He completed Engineering from Bharth Niketan Engineering College in 2004 and joined as an Project Engineer in Invensys India Pvt Ltd. Later he was deputed to many foreign countries by the same company for his job performance. He was associated with the company for three years and returned to India in 2008 dissatisfied with his job.

Then he joined hands with film director M. Manikandan to set up a production company - Madurai Touring Talkies, and also joined the theater troupe Koothup-pattarai. He also worked as an accountant with the troupe, and started off as a background actor with the troupe. He produced several short films under this banner, Thuru, Raavanm, Petticase, Wind and Aram to name a few. Vettai in 2011 was his debut Tamil film, where he played a brief role of Lingusamy's friend. He then acted in Pattarai, which didn’t have a theatric release.

He gained popularity for the first time through the movie – Sundarapandiyan in 2012, where he played the antagonist Paranjothi. He shot to fame playing this role and also received The Chennai Times Film Awards – Promising Newcomer (Male) award and Techofes Award for Best Debut Villain. Since then he played a few negative roles of which Jigarthanda in 2014 needs special mention. Oru Kanavu Pola, Their and Enakku Veru Engum Kilaigal Kidayathu are his upcoming releases.
