Smita Tambe Biography

Smita Tambe is a young actress associated with Marathi cinema, television and stage. She plays both lead and character roles. She has also appeared in supporting roles in a few Bollywood films, such as Singham Returns, Rukh etc. After playing a few supporting roles in Marathi cinema, she got opportunity to play the lead for the first time through Bollywood star Akshay Kumar’s production venture, 72 miles in 2013. Jogwa, Tukaraam, Candle March, Partu, Bioscope, Laathi, Mahaguru, It's Breaking News, Umrika, Ganvesh etc are among her film works in Marathi cinema. Before she turned fully active in films, she was seen in Hindi short film, Jane tune kya Kahi in 2012.

 

Smita Tambe was born in the Satara district of Maharashtra on 11 May 1983. She was brought up in Pune, where she completed her schooling from Modern High School, Yamuna Nagar, Nidgi, Pune. Later she took double Master’s degree in Philosophy and Arts. Smita started her acting career through Marathi theater. She marked her film debut with Marathi film, Naati Goti in the year 2006, and marked her Hindi film debut with the short film, Jaanu Tune Kya Kahi in 2012. She got noticed for the first time in Bollywood through box office hit film, Singham Returns where she appeared in a character role.

 

Among all her filmy roles, she is still famous for her first lead role in Marathi cinema, 72 Miles – Ek Pravas, released in 2013. She carried away with ease, the lead role of Radhakka in the movie, financed by Akshay Kumar. Dancing is her hobby, and she practices Hinduism. She is a good dancer also, apart from a talented actress. In 2011, she participated in the dance reality show, Eka Peksha Ek Apsara Ali, aired on ZEE Marathi.
