Singamuthu Biography

Singamuthu is a popular comedian associated with Tamil film industry. He is a theatre artist too, who had a long term experience with entertainment industry for more than 25 years. Quite active in the film scene in the past two decades or so, some of his major roles include – Suryavamsam, Winner, Nee Varuvai Ena, Kanden Kadhalai and Raja Rani. Singamuthu's son, Vaasan Karthik has also made his film debut in 2007. But he is yet to make a mark in the film industry.

He was born on 8th December 1958 in Tirumangalam, Madurai. Since younger days he got drawn towards comedy and performed hilarious acts to entertain others. His father was also an artist and Singamuthu inherited the skills from his father. He performed various comedy shows on stage and as years passed by, his popularity increased. Later he decided to join acting or film field and became a part of renowned comedian’s show “The Kalakka Povadhu Yaaru“ that gave him appreciation.

He started off his association with cinema doing small comedy roles and throughout the years it has been a slow, steady and positive transformation. He frequently shared screen space with popular comedian Vadivelu, and the duo has given many hilarious comedy scenes to Tamil movies in the recent times. He played the role of an old poet in "Imsai Arasan Irupathi Moonam Pulikesi", Vadivelu’s first film was a protagonist. The film was a major hit too. However their off screen relationship turned worse over a land deal between the two in 2010. Things turned worse when Singamuthu had to spend three days in jail. But later it was proved that the salesman was the real culprit who sold the land to Singamuthu illegally.
