Silajit Majumder Biography

Silajit Majumder is a Bengali actor, singer, music composer, author and songwriter from Kolkata. His first name also spelled as Shilajit. Asukh (1999) by Rituparno Ghosh and Krantikaal (2005) by Sekhar Das are his most memorable film roles as an actor. He composed music for Bengali films, Chupkatha (2012) and    Strugglers: The Reality Behind (2013). In 2016, he appeared in "Big Boss Bangla Season 2”, the reality show. He has published some books since 2007, and is associated with film industry since 1990s. Lal Matir Sorane released in 2003 is one among his popular albums as a singer, composer and songwriter.

 

He was born on 9 October 1965. He schooled from Saint Paul K G school, and later studied at different colleges, finally completing his graduation in English from Vidyasagar College, Kolkata. He started his professional career by composing and singing albums since 1994. Bhoomika (1994) was his first album, followed by Aamra o Benche Aachi, Thik Ekhan e, X=Prem, X=2Prem, Silajit er Paglami – Fisfis, Lal Matir Sorane, Rimjhim, Sarbonash and Folk Rock Aamra. He works as a singer, composer and songwriter for his albums, apart from composing two albums for Bengali music.

 

He also plays supporting roles on Bengali big screen. Otai last mms, Highway (2014), Half Serious, Hemlock Society, Chupkatha, Katakuti, Jiyo Kaka, Bye Bye Bangkok and Gandu are among his roles since 2010. He started appearing in brief roles on big screen since late 1990s. Praptomonoskoder Jonyo, Aneke Poreni, Hijibiji, Aneke Poreni 2, Shobodo-Sharir and 36 ta Prem are his published works. In 2016, his appearance for the Bengali version of Bigg Boss reality show on television was well noticed.
