Sikandar Kher Biography

Sikandar Kher is a Bollywood actor who made his acting debut through 2008 Bollywood movie, Woodstock Villa. Despite getting good reviews from critics the movie was a box office failure. He is the son of National award winning actress Kirron Kher and step-son of veteran actor Anupam Kher. He began his career as an assistant director in Bollywood in the early 2000s and has assisted Sanjay Leela Bhansali for 2002 movie, Devdas starring Shahrukh Khan and Aishwarya rai in the lead roles. Though he appeared in a few more movies in lead and supporting roles, couldn’t replicate the success of his legendary parents and he last appeared in the 2013 movie, Aurengazeb and earned rave reviews from critics for his role as Dev.

 

He was born in Mumbai on 31 October 1981 to Gautam Berry, a rich Mumbai-based businessman and actress Kirron Kher. Anupam Kher and Kirron Kher met each other in the mid-1980s and Anupam Kher was also married then. Both divorced their spouses and got married in 1985 and Sikandar accepted his step-father’s sir name – Kher. Not many are aware that Sikandar is not the son of Anupam Kher. After schooling he joined Anupam’s acting school and studied together with many star kids. He did a 6-month course only, as he didn’t hold a graduation degree.

 

He was first offered the role of Sameer in Dil Chahta Hai, but things didn’t happen. Woodstock Villa in 2008 marked his acting debut, where he played the lead role. But the movie was a flop. Later he acted in the movies - Summer 2007, Players, Aurangzeb and Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey.
