Siddharth Anand Biography

Siddharth Anand is a successful director of Bollywood who has delivered many blockbusters like Bachna Ae Haseeno (2008) and Bang Bang! (2014). His debut film - Salaam Namaste (2005) was a hit at Bollywood. Ta Ra Rum Pum (2007) and Anjaana Anjaani (2010) are his other releases. Working with leading actors of the industry like Hrithik Roshan, Rani Mukherji, Preity Zinta, Saif Ali Khan, Katrina Kaif and Deepika Padukone, his name is always taken alongside the most successful and leading commercial filmmakers of Bollywood.

Siddharth Anand is the son of filmmaker Bittu Anand who produced Amitabh starrer Shahenshah in the late 1980s. His grandfather Inder Raj Anand was a prominent writer, who has wrote several film scripts like Safar, Sangam and Ek Duje Ke Liye and known for his association with Raj Kapoor movies. Noted film actor Tinnu Anand and filmmaker Mukul S. Anand are his uncles. Siddharth Anand started his film career in the early 2000s as an assistant director to Rahul Rawail and has worked for the movie, Kuch Khatti Kuch Meethi (2001) where Kajol played double role.

In 2004, he co-scripted Hum Tum with Kunal Kohli which turned to be a blockbuster. He also worked as associate director for the movie. His debut film - Salaam Namaste (2005) was a hit at Bollywood. The movie starring Preity Zinta and Saif Ali Khan was one of the earliest Indian movies exploring live-in relationships on Indian screen. He worked once again with Saif Ali Khan for the second time with Tara Ram Pam (2007) and to recreate the Hum Tum magic onscreen (the movie that he co-scripted), he casted Rani Mukherji as female lead. However Tara Ram Pam could not replicate the success of Hum Tum.

Then he worked with Ranbir Kapoor for two movies - Bachna Ae Haseeno (2008) and Anjaana Anjaani (2010). Bang Bang (2014) was his last release. Though the movie received negative response from critics, it turned out to be a blockbuster. Ab Toh Forever is his upcoming movie; it’s title is derived from a song of his own movie – Tara Ram Pam.
