Sibi Malayil Biography 
Sibi Malayil is the emperor of melodrama of Malayalam cinema who has given ‘Akashadooth’ to Keralites. He is a famous script writer and director of present times whose movies are tightly packed with emotions, love and tears. Best examples are Kireedam, Chenkol, Sadayam, Kamaladalam, Aakashadooth, Ente veedu appoonteyum, Thaniyavarthanam, Dasaratham and His highness Abdulla. His place is among the most talented directors in the history of Malayalam cinema.
His first movie as director was ‘Mutharan Kunnu P.O’. This comic movie tells how real love can win even He-man’s heart. The movie in which Mukesh and Lizy played central characters, Dhara Singh played the role of himself uniting the true lovers after a gusthi match. After the success of his debut movie, we saw a handful of emotionally high packed movies from Sibi Malayil. A few of the hit list of 80’s include Doore doore oru koodu koottaam, Thaniyavarthanam, Rareeram, Chekkeraanoru Chilla, Mudra, Kireedam, Dasaratham and Vicharana. Dasaratham released in 1989 handled the delicate subject of surrogate mother – a subject too delicate to tell during the late era of 1980’s. As a director, Sibi was a bold director to tell that story and still now, Dasaratham remains as an extra ordinary movie far behind the times! During late 80’s he was associated himself with Mohan lal with whom he has delivered many hit movies like Kireedam, its sequel Chenkol, Dasaratham, Doore doore oru koodu koottam, His highness Abdulla, Rareeram, Doore doore oru koodu koottaam, Dhanam, Bharatham, Maya mayooram, Ustaad, Deva doothan, Flash and Kamaladalam. It can be said that both have mutually contributed a lot for these talented persons’ career.
Other hit movies of Sibi Malayil include Summer in Bethlehem, Kaliveedu and Pranaya varnangal with talented actress Manju Warrior, Kanakinavu with Murali, Sindoora Rekha, Santhwanam and Aksharam with Suresh Gopi, Sagaram Saakshi with Mamootty and Ishtam with Dileep. Nowadays he is experimenting with new generation actors like Asif Ali, Rima Kallingal and Nithya Menon. But he is not able to repeat the silver jubilee successes, he once had with Mohan Lal during 90’s.
He has won national awards thrice. Kanakinavu won Nargis Award in 1997, Akasadoothu on Family welfare and Doore doore oru koodu koottaam, for movie on social issues. Kanakinavu, Ente veedu appoonteyum, Bharatham and Devadoothan have won state awards too.
