Shubha Phutela Biography

Shubha Phutela was a successful model, who acted in one Tamil movie and met the fate of death soon after release. She was crowned Hair-o-max Miss South India 2010, which paved her way to cinema. In 2012, she made her film debut through Tamil movie - Maalai Pozhudhin Mayakathilaey, where she played the female lead opposite Aari. The actress died of a kidney ailment in 2012. She died at a younger age of only 21. She briefly dated Suhas Gopinath, founder, CEO and Chairman of Global INC.

Shubha was born in Ludhiana, Punjab in 1991. Her father was a scientist in microbiology while her mother is a retired teacher. She had a younger brother and an elder sister. Her brother-in-law is an IT professional settled in US. Since younger days, she used to watch television soaps regularly alongside her mother. After schooling, she completed Engineering in IT from Dayananda Sagar College, Bangalore. She happened to interview Suhas Gopinath, CEO and Chairman of the IT company Global INC in an an event 'Coffee with CEO', and later love blossomed between the two.

It was just a co-incidence she entered a beauty pageant. She along with her friends where shopping at a mall, where they happened to hear about a beauty contest. Encouraged by friends, Shubha participated in the event which she won. It was just a beginning and she went on to win several beauty contests like Miss Cosmos 2007, Miss Youth 2008, Sigma Mall Brand Model Hunt 2008 and Miss South India 2010. It opened her opportunities to ad world and she was seen in numerous ads after that.

In 2012, she made her big screen debut with Maalai Pozhudhin Mayakathilaey where she played the role of a Muslim girl. The movie was directed by Narayan Nagendra Rao. She learned Tamil, to be a part of this venture and also turned down other offers as well. However the movie with negative reviews flopped at box office. But the movie songs were chartbusters. Phutela died on 22 October 2012 at the Apollo Hospital in Bangalore. Actually she hid her ailments even from her close friends. She was in a state of coma for the last few days.
