Shrutika (actress) Biography

Shrutika is a former actress who worked in Malayalam and Tamil movies in the 2000s. She has played lead and supporting roles in many movies in the early 2000s. She acted in four Tamil films and one Malayalam movie before she took a break from film industry. Her debut film - Shree (2002) was opposite Suriya, and Gayatri Jayaraman appeared in a pivot role. Her supporting role in comedy hit film, Nala Damayanthi co-starring Madhavan also got positive reviews. Despite playing good roles opposite success actors of South Indian Film industry, she couldn’t sustain too long in the industry. She acted in only 5 films in two years (2002-2003).

Her full name is Shruthika Shivshankar. Her name is credited as Shrutika in movies. She is the granddaughter of the actor, Thengai Srinivasan. Thus she belonged to a filmy family. Her cousin Yogi has appeared in a couple of Tamil films, after Shrutika quit films. She received her first film project in a lead role when she was only 13. So her protective parents decided not to accept roles, till she turns mature. At the age of 16, she marked her film debut with Shree in 2002 opposite Suriya, who had just established as a successful actor. But the mass entertainer movie couldn’t play a good role in lifting her career. She had little to do with her screen presence too, and the movie flopped.

Then she appeared in Tamil films – Album, Thithikudhe and Nala Damayanthi in a row. She played lead role in Album, and supporting role in Thithikudhe and Nala Damayanthi. Album & Thithikudhe flopped at box office while Nala Damayanthi became a hit. She also acted in one Malayalam film, which flopped. She was not patient enough to wait for a couple of years, and she joined SRM College, Chennai to pursue graduation in Visual Communications.
