Shruti Marathe Biography

Shruti Marathe is an Indian actress who appears in Tamil and Marathi movies. Earlier she has done a few television serials also. Marathi film, Sanai Choughade in 2008 marked her big screen debut and the following year, she made her south Indian debut through Tamil movie - Indira Vizha followed by Naan Avanillai 2. Indira Vizha is the Tamil remake of Bollywood hit, Aitraaz where Shruti reprised the role played by Kareena Kapoor, a lawyer who defenses her husband. But her name was credited as Hema Malini. Later she changed her name to Sruthi Prakash and finally to Shruti Marathe. She is to debut Kannada film industry with Aadu Aata Aadu.

Shruti was born in Bardoa and later brought up in Pune, Maharashtra. The family moved to Pune when she was only one year old. She made her acting debut at the age of 15. Her acting debut happened through a Marathi serial, l 'Peshwai', while she was studying in 10th standard at St. Mira’s School, Pune. Her entry to films happened through a small role in Shreyas Talpade’s film ‘Sanai Chaughade. Then she had to wait a lot to get lead roles in movies. She played the title role of Radha in Marathi serial 'Radha Hi Bawari, which is now aired on ZEE Marathi. She is casted opposite Saurabh Gokhale in this popular television serial.

She also played an important role in 'Satya Savitreeaani Satyavan', where she portrayed the de-glamorous role of a widow. Shruti has been a part of 'Indira Vizha', 'Naan Avanillai 2' and 'Guru Sishyam' – three successful Tamil movies. While at college she was not at all fully engaged in stage plays, except a few experimental plays and one commercial play named - ‘Clean Bowled’.
