Shraddha Jadhav Biography

Shraddha Jadhav is Shiv Sena Politician from Mumbai. She served as Mayor of city of Mumbai during 1 December 2009 - 8 March 2012. She also served as the chief of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation. She has been elected to BMC for six consecutive terms from 1992 to 2017, and is widely regarded as one of the influential female chiefs from the city of Mumbai. She is one of the richest corporators in the BMC. She is a resident of Parel, neighbourhood of Mumbai. Her "elegant dressing" and "fashion sense" have earned her a good name in the political circle. Her "crisp" cotton saris have also gained attention.

 

Shraddha Jadhav was born on 2 December, 1964. Her ancestral home is at Sangameshwar in the Konkan region. Currently she resides in Parel. Shraddha is married to Sridhar Jadhav and has two sons - Pawan and Govind Sagar. Her father-in-law Mukund Jadhav was a businessman and her political mentor. Her husband is looking after family business, and runs Manohar decorators and a travel agency. Shraddha got active in politics after her marriage.

 

She got elected as corporator for the first time in 1992. She contested as an independent candidate from Parel ward and won. She subsequently won the next two BMC elections from the same ward. She joined Shiva Sena only in 1997. The following year she got selected in the 11-member council of then Mumbai Mayor Nandu Satam. In 2006 she unsuccessfully contested state assembly elections.  In 2007, she was elected as a municipal corporator from ward 169. She got elected as the fifth female Mayor of Mumbai city on 1 December 2009, defeating Priscilla Kadam of the Congress Party.
