Shivram Bhoje Biography 
Shivram Bhoje is an Indian nuclear scientist who worked in the field of fast-breeder nuclear reactor technology and has given valuable contributions to this field in the past 40 years or so. Indian government has honored him with Padma Shri in 2003 for his distinguished service to science and engineering fields. He has been honoured with Sir Visvesvaraya Memorial Award from Engineers Foundation. He has also received H K Firodia awards in 2006 and VASVIK award in 1992.
Bhoje was born on 9 April 1942 in Kasaba Sangaon of Kolhapur. His schooling was done at Dadasaheb Magadum high school, Kasaba Sangaon and he was brilliant in mathematics and science during his academic years. Later he studied from Rajaram College Kolhapur and completed Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1965 from College of Engineering, Pune. Then he did one year training course in Nuclear Science and Engineering at the BARC Training School and later joined as a Scientific Officer at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Trombay.
At BARC, he first he did designing of Fast Reactor Section of an experimental reactor. He went for one-year deputation to the Centre d'Etudes Nucleare Cadarache, France as a team member of the design team of the 13-mW fast-breeder test reactor in the year 1969. In 1971, he worked at Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research, Kalpakkam. Design of 40 MW Fast Breeder Test Reactor and construction of FBTR were his first successful projects. In 1988 he became the Reactor Superintendent of FBTR.
In 1985, he was designated as the Head of Nuclear Systems Division. In 1992, he became the Director of Reactor Group and he undertook the projects, operation of FBTR and design and engineering R &D of PFBR. In August 2000, he was promoted as Distinguished Scientist and same year he became the Director, Indira Gandhi Center for Atomic Research. Till now, Bhoje has published more than 200 research papers.
