Shikha Swaroop Biography

Shikha Swaroop was a very beautiful model and actress of Indian screen. She is most known for her role as Chandrakanta in Doordarshan’s television serial, Chandrakanta telecasted in 1993. She was crowned Miss. India in the year 1988 and she continued to wear this crown until 1991 as no beauty contests were held during 1989 and 1990 due to the demise of the sponsor, Eve's Weekly. Thus she holds a unique record of wearing Miss India crown continuously for three years and in 1991, she gave it to Preeti Mankotia. She won the crown while she was a college student.

Apart from modeling and television serials, she has acted in a few movies as a leading actress as well and she was interested in Pistol Shooting. Exactly the same year she won Miss India crown, she has she won a gold medal in the All India Pistol Shooting Championship. She has walked on ramp in numerous fashion shows all over India and has worked as a model for many brands. She was a fashion model for over 400 shows in India and abroad. Not only that, she also played badminton on a national level. But due to serious illness she couldn’t work on her badminton career later. Then she became successful in modeling and she was one among the top hot list during late 80’s and early 90’s. She has worked as a model for many beauty products, costumes, sarees etc.

As an actress, she played leading role in a few movies during early 90’s. A few of such movies include – Nagmani, Tahelka, Policewala Gunda, Police Public, Kaayda Kanoon, Pyaar Hua chori chori, Cheetah, Thanedarni and Aawaz de Kahan. The song ‘Peeche peeche’ of Nagmani was very popular which was later released as a Punjabi album. She did a total of 11 movies as leading actress. Yet she became most successful playing the leading role in serial Chandrakanta. The serial was no.1 program over years and her beauty and talents were well appreciated. She attained celebrity status and became a popular figure through ‘Chandrakanta’. She later appeared in its sequel, Kahani Chandrakanta ki, in leading role. She has also featured Kaikei’s role in serial Ramayan of Zee TV.
