Sheela Sharma Biography

Sheela Sharma is a noted character artist associated with Gujarati and Hindi television and cinema. As a Bollywood actress, she is best known for her roles in Nadiya Ke Paar (1982), Hum Saath Saath Hain and Chori Chori Chupke Chupke (2001). She is quite successful with her association with Rajshri Productions, which gave her the major break through the movie, Nadiya Ke Paar released in 1982. She played lead actor Sachin's childhood friend Rajjo in the film. She was later seen in Rajshree productions’ - Hum Saath-Saath Hain. She later played noted supporting roles in Bollywood films - Ajnabee (2001), Yes Boss (1997) and Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai (2002). Now she is busy with television shows, playing supporting mother roles. She is married to Filmmaker Subhash Sharma and the noted actress Madalassa Sharma is their daughter.

 

Sheela’s maiden name in Sheela David and she was born into a Christian family in Valsad of Gujarat state. She completed her schooling from St Joseph's Convent School, Valsad. Later she studied at Siddharth College of Law, Mumbai. She entered films in the early 1980s doing small roles and Rajshri Productions, Nadiya Ke Paar (1982) was her major break to her acting career. She was later seen in Bollywood movies - Sadaa Suhagan, Abod etc and also Bhojpuri films such as Mai in the 1980s. But she couldn’t gain success as a film actress and later she moved to television actress. Now she is a well-known face of Hindi television.

 

Some of her Bollywood roles include – Daraar, Sarhad Paar, Kaalo, Journey Bombay to Goa: Laughter Unlimited, Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai, Ajnabee, Yes Boss, Chalo Ishq Ladaaye, Mann, Naukar Biwi Ka, Ghatak etc. As a television actress she gained attention playing the role of Devaki in the popular series on Doordarshan, Mahabharat, aired in the late 1980s. Mata Ki Chowki and Madhubala – Ek Ishq Ek Junoon are her other noted roles. She played Madhubala’s mother in Madhubala – Ek Ishq Ek Junoon.
