Shaun Romy Biography

Shaun Romy is an upcoming actress associated with Malayalam cinema. She made her promising debut with the Malayalam film, Kammatti Paadam, where she played lead role opposite Dulquer Salmaan. The film was highly appreciated for its direction, screenplay and performance of the crew. The film was directed by award winning film director of Malayalam cinema, Rajeev Ravi. Though she was brought up in a metro city, she played a de-glamorous role in this film. With the film’s release, she is Mollywood’s new sensation. She is credited for breaking the stereotypes of Malayalam heroines, with her distinctive looks. She is active in modelling and works for a US-based company as a biotech engineer.

Shaun Romy was brought up in Bangalore city. She hails from Thiruvananthapuram and has been living in Bangalore for the past 15 years. Since young she was extremely worried about her complexion. She used to pray to god for better complexion – reveals Shaun. Noted VJ and TV anchor Pearle Maaney is her friend, and it was she who introduced Shaun to Sameer Thahir. She made a brief role of heroine’s friend in Thahir’s highly appreciated road movie - Neelakasham Pachakadal Chuvanna Bhoomi. Pearle Maaney also played a cameo role in the film.

When Shaun came to know about the auditions of the film, Kammatti Paadam, she sent her de-glamorous photos to the wife of the director, Geetu Mohandas. The casting team was in search of a dark complexioned girl to play the female lead opposite Dulquer Salman. Through the screen test she got selected for the role. As she felt that the character demands a retro look, she did some homework for that getup. Later only she came to know that it was a de-glam role. She also visited Kochi before the film shooting where she learnt more about life at Kochi and its accent. All the actors including Shaun shined in their roles for the film.
