Sharad Ponkshe Biography

Sharad Ponkshe is a senior artist and a well-known personality associated with Marathi entertainment field. He is quite active in television right now and currently plays the role of a disciplinarian Municipal officer in Zee Marathi’s popular soap ‘Ase Hey kanyadaan’. The debutant Madhura Deshpande plays his daughter and lead actress in this series. Sharad has excelled in every type of roles on big screen, small screen and is known as an eminent personality in the world of Marathi theatre. He played the character Nathuram Godse in the highly acclaimed and controversial Marathi play - Mee Nathuram Godse Boltoy, which is still regarded as his most memorable role.

 

A Maharashtrian, Sharad Ponkshe was born on 13th October 1967. After higher secondary education he was well determined to become an actor. He joined a drama school in Mumbai.  He also joined a popular drama group during this period as a stage actor. Varun Sagde Sarkhe – was one of his most successful plays during his first phase of acting. His role as a highly principled police inspector gave him many offers to Marathi films. Tukaram and Mokda Shwas are some of his among his noticed film roles. He played the father of Tukaram in the super hit Tukaram released in 2012.

 

Impressive in doing both negative and positive roles, he got a lot of appreciation for his television role of Devram Khadgale. Municipal officer in Ase Hey kanyadaan, Vaadalvaat, Unch Majah Zoka and as Anna Patil in Durva are some of the noted roles on television. It was his role in Vaadalvaat, which established him as a television actor. Though known for serious roles, he has also experimented with roles with a comic touch. Sharad Ponkshe’s roles have always claimed a trademark.
