Shamini Kumaresan Biography

Shamini Kumaresan is an Indian sportswoman who plays table tennis. She got silver medal in the women’s table tennis team event in 2010 Commonwealth Games held at Delhi and she served as the captain of the team.

 

Shamini was born in 1988 and is living in Chennai. Her father’s name is T. Kumaresan and he is a school teacher. She completed her schooling from the Atomic Energy Central School in Kalpakkam and then completed her MBA degree from the SSN College of Engineering in Chennai.

 

She was picked up from the city school tournament in 1994 by the Rao brothers, A. Muralidhara Rao and A. Srinivasa Rao who has set up SDAT Academy with the help of the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu in 2005 to find and promote talented people of the region.

 

After she shifted to Chennai, she joined YMOA Club in Mylapore. Then she was trained by the Achanta Kamala Gandharam Memorial Table Tennis Development Center. She worked her way to become the Junior National Champion in 2004.
