Shakeela Biography

Shakeela is a south Indian film actress best known for appearing in B-grade soft porn movies belonging to the genre of Softcore pornography. She appeared in glamorous roles in all the four south language movies, which were tagged as ‘Adult Only’ movies. In this genre of filmmaking, Shakeela remains the top female star of south Indian cinema. Yet she has played supporting roles in several south Indian main stream movies too. She remained in limelight throughout the second half of 1990s and first half of 2000s, and earned the title of ‘soft porn star’ in south Indian cinema.

Her full name is C. Shakeela Begum. Her father is from Chennai and mother from Guntur, Andhra Pradesh. She belonged to a family which lacked proper financial background, and her childhood days were spent in poverty. She studied in six schools as she was below average student, and used to fail in class exams frequently. But since young, she was interested in movies and acting. She studied in convent schools and for the same reason learnt English and Hindi as well.

Shakeela debuted in the Tamil soft porn movie Playgirls at the age of 20 in the 1980s. She played a supporting role in the movie. Later she started appearing in lead roles in the 1990s. With the release of year 2000 Malayalam softcore film, Kinnara Thumbikal directed by R J Prasad, where she played a lead role, she became the top-rated female star of B-grade movies, and most sought actress too. The film was dubbed in more than six Indian languages. Made on a moderate budget of 12 lakh Indian rupees, the film grossed around 4 crores. Since then she appeared in countless movies, all belonging to Softcore pornography category.

Her movies were dubbed and released in all Indian languages. In the recent times, she has started appearing in main stream movies, playing different kinds of roles. In 2018, she has announced her 250^th film project.
