Shaina N. C Biography

Shaina NC is a Mumbai-based woman fashion designer and she currently serves as Treasurer of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Maharashtra. She is the first woman treasurer of the party. She holds a record in Guinness Book of World Records for draping fastest saree. She won the record at the age of 34. She is also known for finding 55 innovative methods to drape an Indian saree. She is fondly called ‘Queen of Drapes’. Her innovative methods include wearing two or three entire saris at the same time. The demonstration of the double sari of 12 whole yards of material was one of the trickier ones among her ideas. She popularized among youngsters the two-piece ‘concept’ sari. She also gives special attention to blouses, wore along with saris.

Apart from being a successful fashion designer, she also belongs to the young group of politicians of Bharatiya Janata Party. She currently serves as Treasurer of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Maharashtra, the first woman to receive this position. She is also the BJP’s spokesperson in Maharashtra and the daughter of former Mayor of Mumbai and founder of the NGO, ‘I Love Mumbai’, Nana Chudasama. She was born to Hindu father and a Muslim mother and brought up in a highly cosmopolitan society.

As a costume designer, she wanted youngsters to wear saris. As it’s time consuming to drape saris, she brought in many innovative methods like pleats and palla were already present, thus popularizing this traditional wear among young women. She has also worked with Bollywood actresses like Aishwarya Rai, Raveena Tandon, Juhi Chawla and Katrina Kaif.
