Shailesh Lodha Biography

Shailesh Lodha is a popular television actor known for playing character roles in Hindi soaps. He has excelled in the roles of a comedian. Lodha is also known as a writer. Made his television debut through the comedy show, Comedy Circus as contestant, he became quite popular through the iconic show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah – the longest running comedy sitcom on Indian television. Shailesh portrayed the real Taarak Mehta for the sitcom. In fact, the show is based on the columns written by noted writer Taarak Mehta in the Gujarati newspaper, Divya Bhaskar. In 2014, he was awarded Best Anchor at Zee Gold Awards.

Lodha was born on 15 July 1969 in Sirohi of Jaipur district, Rajasthan. He is married to Swati Lodha. Shailesh is also known as a prolific writer and an established poet who has published four books till now. His recent book, Diljale Ka Facebook Status, is a collection of poems. His first two books belong to humour genre, while he co-authored the second book along with his wife. Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma and Bahut Khoob are his popular television shows and the actor has been awarded with the prestigious Vimlesh Sammasn award for his contributions to the field of humour and satire. He is also known for his stage performances and currently hosts the show - Waah Waah Kya Baat Hai.

A noted poet, he has been associated with several Hasya Kavi Sammelans. Either writings or shows, comedy is his favourite genre. Yet he personally doesn’t indulge in any vulgar comments in his acts and prefers perfect family entertainers without double meaning. He is also known for his stage performances. During his childhood when he gets bored, he read books and magazines and also loved cartoons. Once he got sick for 2-3 months and started writing poems at that time. He got apprecaitions for his writing and that’s how he started his journey as a bal kavi.
