Shahnaz Husain is a successful entrepreneur and has become the leading brand name of Indian cosmetics. This powerful lady has made her own way to conquer Indian beauty cosmetics market by her trademark products. She is of course an inspiration to women and her life proves that passion and hard work are enough to realize one’s dreams if you are willing to carry forward your dreams with a strong presence of mind. She is the CEO of Shahnaz Herbals Inc and her herbal cosmetics, particularly skin care products have huge demand not only among beauticians but also among customers and models. Her products are being exported to more than 138 countries also. In 2006, she received Padma Shree from Government of India.

 

Shahnaz Husain was born in a royal Muslim family and had schooling in a traditional way. She was married at a young age of 16 and daughter Nelofar was born one year later. But she wanted to do something in her life rather than remaining inside for walls of the home. When her husband was posted in Tehran, Iran, she found that she was deeply interested in cosmetics and beauty products. She learnt the art from different institutions like Helena Rubinstein, Arnould Taylor, Swarzkopf, Christine Valmy, Lancome and Lean of Copenhagen.

 

When she realized that chemical products can harm the skin, her attraction was leant towards India’s Ayurveda and its principles. This identification itself provided the back bone of her career growth. Now also, her products are always regarded as the number 1 herbal products for skin care. She started her saloon on a humble budget of Rs 35000 in Delhi and within 6 months, she got many advanced booking. She also didn’t believe in marketing and advertizing. Rather she firmly believed mouth to mouth publicity by satisfied customers. She got an opportunity to represent India in London during The Festival Of India in 1980 which proved to be the turning point of her career. Slowly her small saloon branched to 400 different products which have a market in over 138 countries all over the world.
