Shahana Goswami Biography

Shahana Goswami is a successful Indian actress who works in award winning movies. She appears in Hindi and English movies and her noted performances include – Rock on, Firaaq and Midnight's Children. She has also appeared in Ra.One, Mirch, Break ke baad, Rub a ru, Game, Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd and Yun Hota To Kya Hota. Shahana is in a relationship with noted model/actor Milind Soman, a divorcee at present. Goswami's first international project is Deepa Mehta's Winds of Change. In 2009, she received Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actress for her breakthrough performance in Rock On where she plays the role of Arjun Rampal’s girl friend and a fashion designer.

Shahana Goswami was born in New Delhi on 6 May 1986. She did her schooling from Sardar Patel Vidyalaya, Delhi and college studies from Sophia College, Mumbai. She was an athlete too, who participated in zonal and national level championships in events like athletics, artificial wall climbing, badminton, basketball and volleyball. But her real dream was to become a professional actress. So she moved to Mumbai after studies. She associated with Jaimini Pathak's theatre group and has also acted in their productions Seagull and Arabian Nights.

Her debut movie was Yun Hota Toh Kya Hota followed by Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd and she did bit roles in both these movies. She later appeared in Ru Ba Ru and all these movies happened while she was doing her college studies. Rock on! was her big break to Bollywood where she won Star Screen Award for Best Supporting Actress, Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actress, Lions Gold Award for Best Supporting Actress and Cineblitz Award for Best Supporting Actress. She was also nominated in supporting roles at IIFA and Filmfare. In 2010, she received Stardust Award for Breakthrough Performance – Female for her performance in Firaaq. Same movie earned her nomination at Filmfare and Star screen awards for best supporting actress too.
