Sethu Lakshmi Biography

Sethu Lakshmi is an Indian actress associated with Malayalam film, theatre and television industry. She is known for playing supporting roles onscreen. Some of her noted roles include – How Old Are You? and its Tamil remake, 36 Vayadhinile,  apart from Ee Kanni Koodi, Left Right Left, Utopiayile Rajavu, Rasathanthram, Vinodayathra, Bhagyadevatha etc. Appachiyamma of Moonumani and Mohakadal are her most memorable roles on small screen. She is an acclaimed theater artist too, who won state award for best actress twice for - Bhagyajathakam & Dravidavritham and supporting actress twice – for Chinnappah & Mankolangal. She won Kerala State Film Award for Second Best Actress 2014 for '‘How Old Are You’' and also Asiavision Awards for best supporting actress for the same role.

Sethulakshmi hails from Thiruvananthapuram. She is married to a theater artist who works as a stage actor and makeup artist. The couple has 4 children. She completed her Natana Bhooshan in 1963. Her children are also associated with theatre and stage shows and they own their own troupe, Chirayinkeezh Anugraha. Though she has been associated with theater earlier, she made a late entry to films and television and within a short span of 12 years she has registered some of the memorable character roles quite familiar to Malayali audience.

Her association with Satyan Anthikad gave some of the memorable roles onscreen such as Rasathanthram, Vinodayathra and Bhagyadevatha. Her role as co-passenger of Manju Warrier in How Old Are You bagged her the prestigious Kerala State Film Award for Second Best Actress 2014. She reprised the same role in its Tamil remake, which marked Jyothika’s return to movies too, similar to Manju Warrier. Fully engaged in small screen too, she currently appears in Aliyan V/S Aliyan, Bharya, Thatteem Mutteem and Gauri. Her screen presence was noted for the comedy shows – Laughing Villa, Badai Bungalow etc.
