Senthil Chengalvarayan Biography

Senthil Chengalvarayan is a TV anchor and presenter best known for his association with one of the leading Indian English business channel, CNBC TV18. He has been serving as the President & Editorial Director of CNBC TV18 since 1994. He has been associated with CNBC TV18 and the field of anchoring for more than two decades, and is one of the top anchors of the channel from south India. He formerly served as Editor-in-Chief of Network18 Business Newsroom, before he quit the business channel in 2015. Senthil Chengalvarayan stepped down as Network18 Business Editor in September 2015.

 

Senthil Chengalvarayan hails from Tamil Nadu. Senthil was associated with the Network18 Group since its formative days. He joined TV18 in 1994. He has given some stellar contributions over 21 years in the group. After Senthil decided to move on, Zainulbhai announced Joshi joining as CEO-News and Group Editor-in-Chief. Joshi was the Editorial Director of BCCL's The Economic Times newspaper prior to joining Network18. The development happened days after the Reliance Industries- owned company removed Group CEO A. P. Parigi ahead of Joshi joining office as its CEO of News and Group Editor-in-Chief.

 

In 2013 when Network18 Group today announced the setting up of 'Network18 Business Newsroom', the responsibility was put on the shoulders of Senthil Chengalvarayan. It was an integrated newsroom comprising its market leading broadcast and digital news outlets in the business media space. Senthil Chengalvarayan was also appointed as the Editor-In-Chief, Network18 Business Newsroom. He was serving as the President & Editorial Director for TV18 Business Media, and associated with the group for 19 years till then, when he was given this extra charge. Shereen Bhan was also appointed as the Managing Editor for CNBC-TV18.

 

He closely worked with editorial heads of Network18's print and web publications before his exit. When Reliance Industries took over Network18 and TV18, he has sold his stake in both the companies estimated at around Rs 1.20 crore.
