Seema Antil Biography

Seema Antil is an Indian sportswoman who competes in the discus throw event. She achieved her best throw in August 2004 with 64.84 meters. She has participated in 2004 Olympics at Athens and 2012 Olympics at London.

 

Seema was born on 27th July 1983 in Sonipat in Haryana. Her father’s name is Vijay Pal Singh and he is a lawyer. She has two elder brothers, Anandpal and Amitpal. The first one is a Greco-Roman wrestler and the second one is a hockey player. She completed her schooling at Tikka Ram Girl’s School and attended Government College in Sonipat. She married Ankush Poonia.

 

She won gold medal at the 2000 World Junior Championships but was tested positive for drugs and so the medal was stripped. In the World Junior Championships 2002 she won bronze medal. She won silver medal at 2006 Commonwealth Games and bronze in 2010 in the same event.

 

She represented India in Athens Olympics in 2004 and ended up in 14th place and participated in the London Olympics in 2012 and ended up in the 13th place in discus throw event. She was given Bhim Award by the Government of Haryana on 26th June 2006 to acknowledge her talents.
