Saumya Karki Biography

Saumya Karki is an Indian sportswoman who plays the game of squash. She has represented India in the World Junior Championship tournament.

 

Saumya was born on 19th October 1994 in Thane in Maharashtra. She completed her higher studies at Jai Hind College and at that time she served as the captain of her college team. She played for Maharashtra at the Interstate National Team Championships. Squash Racquet Association of Maharashtra awarded her the Certificate of Honor for her remarkable performance in 2003.

 

She received the Rolling Trophy for the most promising player in India in 2006. She won the title at the Indian Junior Squash Nationsl in the years 2006, 2009 and 2010 and got the Certificate of Honor for that. She also received the Raju Chainani Award for most promising girl player in Maharashtra. She finished up as semifinalist in the World Junior Women’s Team Squash Championships in the girls U19 in 2011 held at Boston.

 

She got silver medal at the Asian Junior Individual Squash Championships in 2011 in U17 category in the tournament held at Amman in Jordan. She won the Champion of the Little Masters All India Junior Squash Tournament in 2010 and 2011. She was nominated for the Principal’s Medal for exemplary leadership in 2010. She is also serving as the member of the Interact Club and Junior Branch of the Rotary Movement.
