Satya Pal Singh Biography 
Satya Pal Singh is a prominent Indian politician associated with Bharatiya Janata party, and currently a parliamentarian too. He got elected to Lok Sabha in 2014 general elections representing BJP, and currently serves as a minister in the central government led by Narendra Modi. He serves the position of Minister of State for Human Resource Development responsible for Higher Education since 3 September 2017. He represents Baghpat constituency of Uttar Pradesh in the 16th Lok Sabha. He is a retired IAS officer, who has served as Police Commissioner of Mumbai, Pune and Nagpur.
Singh was born on November 29, 1955 in Basauli in Baghpat district of Uttar Pradesh. Ramkishan and Hukmwati Singh are his parents. He holds a Ph.D. in Naxalism from Nagpur University. He joined IPS in the year 1980 representing Maharashtra cadre. Initially Singh wanted to become a scientist, but later chose police administration as his profession. After training he was first posted as an Assistant Superintendent of Police of Nasik. He later becomes the Superintendent of Police of Buldhana. He also served many high administrative positions throughout his government service till his retirement.
He also served as Crime Chief of Mumbai during 1990s when many mafia gang activities of the metro city were stopped by police intervention and through several high-profile killings as police encounters. He later became Police Commissioner of Mumbai, Pune and Nagpur. He has also served as Superintendent of Police of Nasik, Buldhana and Gadchiroli districts. Singh joined the BJP at a rally organised in Meerut on 2 February 2014. Prime Minister candidate Narendra Modi was also present in that occasion. He successfully conducted his first Lok Sabha elections, and currently serves as Minister of State for Human Resource Development.
