Satish Kumar Gautam Biography

Satish Kumar Gautam is an Indian politician from the state of UP, affiliated to Bharatiya Janata Party. He currently serves as a parliamentarian in the 17th Lok Sabha headed by Narendra Modi and represents Aligarh constituency. He was also elected in 16th Lok Sabha from the same constituency and it is his second term in a row as a parliamentarian from the same constituency, his hometown. Since 2015 he serves as a member of Standing Committee on Labour and also Standing Committee on Chemicals and Fertilizers. He is also a member of Consultative Committee, Ministry of Railways.

 

Satish Kumar Gautam was born on 1 July 1972 in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh. He studied till matriculation level only. He married Meenakshi Gautam on 30 April 1993. Satish is fond of sports, particularly Kabaddi. He is also into business, apart from his journey as a politician and social worker. He got elected to parliament for the first time in 2014 general elections from Aligarh and he retained the seat in 2019 general elections too.

 

As an MP of Uttar Pradesh, during his first term, he assured to provide insurance to 11,000 women to Aligarh on Raksha Bandhan day and also 100 toilets for women in Aligarh who can’t afford to build it at home. Satish Gautam was a member of Aligarh University Court between 2014 and 2017. The court plays an important role in appointment of V-C, passing budget etc. He wrote a letter to vice-chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University asking the rationale behind the presence of a portrait of Muhammad Ali Jinnah in the varsity. In 2018 he demanded to remove the portrait of Jinnah, leading to wide protests. He also asked to give reservations to OBC, SC and ST students.
