Sathyan Biography

Born in a Christian family of old Travancore in 1912, he completed his education and joined as a school teacher in Saint Joseph's School Thiruvananthapuram. He worked as a clerk in Thiruvananthapuram Secratariate and then joined Britsih Army too. When he returned after Second World War, he worked as Inspector in Travancore Police. But later he joined movies and never turned back. He reigned Malayalam film industry for 20 years as the jewel of the crone and in the last 5 years, he struggled a lot with blood cancer. When he left the world he was just 59 and at the peak of his career with most memorable movies.

It's very surprising that he debut on screen at the age of 40's. He was not handsome and glamorous. Yet he won everyone's heart with his screen presence and controlled acting. He gave a new definition to acting. He told the whole world through his acting skills that over-acting and tears are not necessary to make a role memorable and immortal.

Chemmeen and Neelakuyil are still considered landmark movies of Malayalam. We have seen him growing as a fine actor towards the end of his life journey, when he was struggling with blood cancer. Yet, he hid all his worries from everyone and travelled from one location to another, giving us numerous characters to remember.He kept it as a secret from every one too! His death is still a mystery to all!
