Saswat Joshi Biography 
Saswat Joshi is a leading Odissi dancer of present times. He is also a choreographer and model of this art form, and one of the youngest artists of present day generation. Born in 1984 in Titlagarh of Balangir district of Odisha, he is the recipient of a national scholarship from Ministry of Culture Government of India. Saswat is also a model for many leading brands like Manyavar dresses, Boyanika etc and has been associated with a few international brands also. He mostly appears in traditional attire for his modelling assignment roles. He has also done photo shoots with many leading fashion designers of the country. Apart from choreographing traditional Odissi dance forms, he has also handled a few fusion works. Saswat is the founder of Lasyakala Institute of Performing Arts.
He was born on December 18, 1984 in Titlagarh of Balangir district of Odisha. He was introduced to the formal training of traditional dance forms at the age of 5. Guru Prasanta Patnaik and Guru Shantanu Behera were his early teachers, from whom he learnt the basics of Odissi dance form. In 2000, he started advanced training under Kumkum Mohanty, to pursue a career in this field. He later learnt the dance form from Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra and Ileana Citaristi. He did his Visharad from Chandigarh University, and has received numerous honours and scholarships in his formative years and academic studies.
In 2012, he got opportunity to perform in Musée Guimet at Paris, France. Since then he has performed in different foreign countries to popularize this dance form. He has served as Choreography consultancy in various Bollywood films, and also choreographed a few works. Saswat is the founder of Lasyakala Institute of Performing Arts, which annually organizes Aekalavya Dance Festival.
