Sasi (tamil Director) Biography

Sasi is a successful Tamil film director, best known for the movies - Roja Kootam (2002), Dishyum (2006), Poo (2008), Ainthu Ainthu Ainthu (2013), Pichaikkaran (2016) etc. Many of his films have registered hits at box office, and Sasi is one of the most successful directors of mid-cap movies in the present times. He also scripts his works, and has directed one Telugu film, Seenu in 1999. His 2008 movie – Poo received Best Director award at Ahmedabad Film Festival. It was also nominated at Vijay film Awards for Best Director. His last release, Pichaikkaran was highly acclaimed, and was a box office hit too.

Sasi hails from Mettur of Salem district, Tamil Nadu. He made his directorial debut with Sollamale in 1998. The director is known for romantic genre of film making. Since his debut flick, he made a series of romantic flicks throughout 1990s and 2000s. His debut film featured Livingston and Kausalya in lead roles. The movie opened to positive reviews and became a box office success. Roja Kootam (2002), Dishyum (2006) and Poo (2008) also followed the same ‘tradition’ of love and romance, and the director tasted success with all these romantic films.

Poo is one of his notable works which has been showcased at several international film festivals. The movie starred Parvathy (of Malayalam movie Take Off fame) and Srikanth in lead roles. The movie was based on the short story Veyilodu Poi written by Thamizh Selvan. Music composer S. S. Kumar and cinematographer Muthiah marked their debuts with this film. In 2008, he began his work on an action film. But it took a few years to complete the film. Ainthu Ainthu Ainthu starring Bharath released in 2013. It was considered a comeback commercial hit for Bharath.
