Sanju Samson Biography

Sanju Samson is the latest youth sensation of Indian cricket. He represents Kerala in domestic cricket. Born from a remote village, Tennurkonam, Vizhinjam of coastal belt, Kerala, he rose to fame with IPL 2013. He is the youngest to score a half-century in the IPL and in Champions League Twenty20. He was chosen as 'Best Young Player of the Season' in IPL 2013 in an official poll. He was a part of Kolkata Knight Riders in 2012, but couldn’t play any match. His real debut happened in the year 2013 with Rajasthan Royals and he became an overnight sensation. He played for Kerala at Ranji Trophy at a younger age of 15.

Sanju Samson was born in a remote village near Kovalam. He started playing cricket at a younger age. He was a member of the under 13 cricket team of Kerala. He made a hundred in the debut match and went on to score 4 centuries in 5 matches in the South Zone Under-13 tournament. He was the captain of the team. He was also the captain of Under 16 and Under 19 Kerala State Cricket Teams. His double century in just 138 balls was the highlight of the match. Thus he was selected to Kerala Ranji team at the age of just 15.

Later he represented the team for Kerala's U-19 team and also entered India’s team to U-19 Asia Cup in 2012. But his performance was poor in the matches held at Malaysia in 2012. He made his debut for Kerala Ranji Trophy team on 3 November 2011 at the age of 17, thus became the youngest player from Kerala to get this opportunity. In this domestic season (2012-2013) he scored 722 runs from 10 innings including 2 centuries. Now he is the vice captain of under 19 Indian team.

Though he didn’t get opportunity to bat for Kolkata Knight Riders in 2012, he holds an awesome record for Rajasthan Royals. He made his IPL debut against Kings XI Punjab on 13 April 2013 in the place of injured wicket keeper for the team. He did an outstanding performance in the match assuring the team’s win. It was only the beginning. In the second match, his half century created a new record of youngest to score a half-century in the IPL. In Champions League 2013 too, scored 192 runs in 6 matches becoming the 6th highest run taker of the tournament.
